Brand Ambassador Appointments

Brands
New plants are the backbone of UpShoot. We continue to collaborate with plantsmen and breeding companies in the US and abroad to provide plant licensing, royalty and/or marketing services.
We’re very proud to have been a brand ambassador for J. Berry Nursery and its Deja Bloom Azaleas, Hollywood Hibiscus and Black Diamond Crape Myrtle brands in 2016. I’m honored that UpShoot will continue as such in 2017.
Additionally, UpShoot has recently been named Brand Ambassador by Peter van Rijssen for Concept Plants. As well, UpShoot will be working with Chris Hansen for Garden Solutions and his plant brands including Chick Charms.
We recently announced our partnership with well-known plantsman Mike Yanny of JN Plants Selections who specializes in hardy natives. His Ping Pong Buttonbush and Firespire Musclewood are already on the market and he has some exciting cultivars in the queue for future release.

Plant nerds!
Nancy Buley of J. Frank Schmidt & Son presented Kelly and I a copy of Urban Forests by Jill Jonnes after our Atlanta presentation.
It is always a blast to tag-team with fellow plant geek Kelly Norris, Director of Horticulture for the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden to present the latest plant introductions at the GWA Annual Conference and Expo. If you didn’t make it to Atlanta or missed our presentation, you can find our handout listing all plants submitted on the GWA website.
You can also look for my hottest new plant article in the Jan/Feb issue of northern State-by-State Gardening magazines (OH, PA, MO and IN issues).

Garden-pedia #HappyDance

We’re so excited we just can’t stand it! Garden-pedia: An A-Z Guide To Gardening Terms by myself and co-author Pam Bennett has not only gone to a second printing, it won a major award, and it’s now available as an e-book!

Don’t forget I’m offering a gardening gift set which features a personalized copy of Garden-pedia tucked inside a one-gallon burlap girdle pot from The Seed Keeper Company. It’s secured with a pretty grosgrain ribbon around a packet of Renee’s Garden Seeds.

I’m also pleased to announced that Garden-pedia will once again be a sponsor in 2017 for The Seed Keeper Project to recognize school gardens in all 50 states. Also we’re a new KidsGardening.org 2017 Youth Garden Grant sponsor.

A New Year’s Floral Toast

With cocktail gardening all the rage, we fell in love with the all-natural, non-alcoholic, botanical elixirs from Floral Elixir Co.when spotted at IGC Chicago. Named a ‘Top 10’ Find by Garden Center Magazine, you can create unique cocktails and mocktails.

Violet is my fave; I’m planning a Violet Kir Royaletoast to ring in the new year. Lavender is the #1 seller and I’m adding it to my powdered sugar frosting to make iced shortbread.

Chris Van Cleve, the Redneck Rosarian, featured Rose elixir in his Holiday Gift Guide! Thirteen flavors are available in two sizes (the larger bottle fits a pour spout) and in 18 gift sets.
