Let’s Go to OH-IO!

GWA at #Cultivate15

Cultivate'15

I’m honored to serve as co-chair with Diane Blazek of the National Garden Bureau for the GWA Association Outreach Task Force. As such, I’m proud to invite you to attend Cultivate’15 where GWA will have a presence at the largest green industry trade show in North America!

The show will be July 11-14th at the Columbus Convention Center and GWA will have a booth on the trade show floor to educate attendees and exhibitors on the value a garden communicator can bring to their business.

Complimentary Registration for GWA

Once again AmericanHort is providing FREE registration to garden writers to attend the Cultivate’15 education sessions, trade show and networking events (a $350 value).

Follow this link for details on how to register (deadline June 15) as well as info on the Connect meeting, an invitation to the AH press luncheon, a new Tour du Nouvelle with Josh Schneider of Cultivaris and much more!

It’s About Plants!

Pure Michigan! welcomes Region III members and guests on June 19th in the Holland, Michigan area!

GWA Member Susan Martin and National Director Linda Nitchman have combined to put together a great regional meeting which includes stops at Lake Cliff Garden, Walters Gardens, Inc., and Spring Meadow Nursery with an optional tour to Great Garden Plants.

Don’t delay as registration deadline is this Friday, June 12th!

Your Vote Counts!

GWA elections will be coming up soon. I have been asked to run for Secretary and have accepted that nomination. I believe my vast green industry experience as well as my service to GWA as a regional director, co-chair of the AOTF and Management Consultant Ad-Hoc Committee makes me uniquely qualified. Thanks for your consideration and be sure to vote!

#PerDrA

June is Perennial Gardening month! Our favorite perennial guru, Dr. Allan Armitage, one of the most respected plant authorities in the green industry, recently penned his memoirs. UpShoot is honored to have played a role in bringing his newest book to life by coordinating its design, layout and editing.

Dr. Allan Armitage's memoir: It's Not Just About The Hat

His stories depict his unlikely trajectory as a shy boy from a quiet neighborhood in Montreal to a world-renowned plantsman. This book exemplifies everything you have come to expect from one of the most engaging storytellers today.

The book is self-published and available personalized on allanarmitage.net. It is also for sale amazon.com.

Show Time crabapple

So Bright You Have to Wear Shades!

Trust me, you’ll say WOW when you see Show Time™ crabapple in bloom.
It has fluorescent fuchsia red flowers that are more prolific and larger in size than Prairifire and their color contrast against the leaves makes them even brighter!Show Time also has a pleasing orange fall foliage color which complements its bright red fruit. This Zone 3 ornamental crabapple is out of the ever popular Centurion®.
